"The end of June seen preparations begin for our Workington event following a week of relaxing following our Running Day. However this didn't prevent us from adding to our growing collection of newer vehicles in preservation at the trust. The latest addition was in the form of a Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLF, the 4th low floor vehicle based at Kirkby.
New in November 1999, V656 DVU was one of 75 Marshall bodied Darts delivered to MTL Trust Holdings in 1999 to be spread across their depots in Merseyside. Numbered 7656, this bus was new to Green Lane depot, but was moved to Southport early on in it's life. Since then, the vehicle has lead a fairly uneventful life, staying there for all of it's life until being withdrawn in June. Having earlier expressed an interest in purchasing the vehicle, an agreement was made to place the vehicle on long term loan to the group, allowing us to receive the bus less than 2 weeks followings its withdrawal from service.
Having already made it's rally debut, work has begun already on returning it back to it's past guise, so watch this space! For more information about this or any other of our vehicles, see our vehicle collection on the left hand side of the page, where details will be added shortly for 7656."
